With the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act, Chester City Council wanted a video aimed at young disabled people, to provide information on their rights at work and when ‘out and about’ using services and transport.
We took a youth TV style approach – using well known presenter Mat Fraser and young disabled people from Chester to present the information. We treated the subject matter and individuals with sensitivity and understanding – and got great performances from people as a result.
Naturally, the resulting video was DDA compliant, and included a subtitled, signed and audio described version.
The video is used as part of a resource pack which is available in libraries and information centres across Chester.
